Body-Solid Tools BSTWVP Adjustable Weighted Vest – 20 lbs or 40 lbs – The BSTWVP20 and BSTWVP40 from Body-Solid are adjustable weighted training vests used to provide additional resistance over the exercisers own body weight during cross-training and athletic training for sports performance. Conditioning your body into working out with what it thinks is a heavier overall body mass than it is accustomed to will lead to increased strength, stamina, speed, lung capacity, power, and explosiveness. Muscles are taxed more and the heart needs to pump harder to support the extra weight during exercise. By tricking the body into working harder during periods of pre-season conditioning or general training, when the main event arrives and the vest is no longer worn, the muscular, cardiopulmonary, and respiratory systems all function at an enhanced level given that the body is no longer encumbered by additional poundage. A weight vest lets you add resistance to a high intensity interval training routine without compromising biomechanics since it hugs the upper body and allows the arms and torso to move and rotate freely during exercise. Weight training vests can be used in the gym when performing squats, lunges, dips, pull-ups, push-ups, burpees, and hand walks. A weighted workout vest is great for adding weighted resistance to your walking or running program for accelerated weight loss whether outdoors or at home on a treadmill or elliptical.
Both the BSTWVP20 and BSTWVP40 vests are adjustable allowing you to increase or decrease the amount of resistance utilizing 1.25 pound sandbag weights that fit snugly inside pockets located on the front and back of the vest. In the case of the BSTWVP40 vest, at maximum weight the exerciser will carry 20 pounds on the front and 20 pounds on the back with all 32 pockets filled. In the case of the BSTWVP20 vest, at maximum weight the exerciser can insert the 16 included sandbag weights into half of the 32 useable pockets high or low on the front or back depending on preference for weight balance. Each vest features two fully adjustable Velcro straps which allows customizing the fit to your body and torso and proper placement of the weights, which reduces vest movement during workout and results in optimal center of gravity without restricting any type of range of motion. For beginners, the ability to adjust the weight load of the training vest beginning at 1.25 pounds and working up to maximum load of 20 or 40 pounds means that you can gradually build strength and conditioning levels and not overexert if you are not physically ready to carry the extra weight (as would be the case with a fixed weight vest).
